The summer has been busy, sunny and successful for Food Tech Solutions Ltd

The last 6 months has seen current clients and new clients achieving best practice.
Consultancy
Food Tech Solutions Ltd was the chosen company to support the rapid growth of The Naked Deli retail outlets, due to previously working with the company back in 2014. The project involves technical consultancy / training / auditing service which started in July, for their rapidly growing number of outlets with a new outlet launching in Newcastle Airport in September and other units planned for the centre of Newcastle in the coming months. The project includes designing and implementing food safety systems, completing a rolling programme of CIEH Level 2 and 3 food safety training for all staff within the company and an internal audit service for each outlet starting in November.
Current clients who continue to achieve best practice with the support of Food Tech Solutions Ltd are Hadrian Border Brewery, Gelders Foods and Brysons of Keswick who successfully maintained their SALSA Accreditation, Longridge Towers School and the Naked Deli retail outlets achieving 5 Star rating in their Food Hygiene Ratings Scheme inspections.
Training
Completed dedicated Internal Auditor training for Nairns Oatcakes in Edinburgh in July and August, which included training their current internal auditor team and a new team to further support their Gluten Free site.
A further Internal Auditor training course is planned for Finlays of Hull in November.
Completed CIEH Level 2 food safety training for Elpha Lodge Care Home in October.
Auditing
Commenced internal auditing programme with 21 Hospitality Group in July for three of their restaurants within Fenwick Newcastle.
Completed a BRC Gap Analysis audit of Finlays of Hull in July in preparation for their annual BRC audit. This was completed in October with their AA grade being maintained.
Food Tech Solutions Ltd’s Managing Director Lisa Kennedy continues to complete SALSA audits throughout the region.

New business branches into top class restaurants
Consultancy
February saw continued business growth into the restaurant trade within Newcastle with a new client, Crafted Projects, who manage a selection of top flight restaurants. Food Tech Solutions Ltd has been selected to complete monthly inspections on their restaurants to ensure continuous improvement and to maintain high standards.
Training
CIEH Level 3 food safety training has been completed at Turnbulls of Alnwick butchers in February and Constable Burton Hall in May and CIEH Level 2 training was successfully completed by 22 candidates from Excelsior School in April.
Finlays of Hull contracted Food Tech Solutions Ltd to complete Internal Auditor Training for their BRC team on site in April 2018; 4 years after initially implementing BRC on site.
Auditing
I’m pleased to announce Mattisons Bakery maintained their SALSA accreditation following their audit in March.
With the launch of Version 8 of the BRC standard and Version 5 of the SALSA standard in the coming months; the focus going forward will include assisting current clients with adopting the new requirements to ensure approval is maintained.

Lisa Kennedy, Managing Director of Food Tech Solutions Ltd, was approached by the highly respected, Michelin starred, 21 Hospitality Group back in November 2017, to provide technical consultancy and a review of their food operation within their three restaurants hosted within Fenwick Newcastle – Saltwater Fish Co, Porterhouse Butchery and Grill and Café 21 in Fenwick. This working relationship will now continue with Food Tech Solutions Ltd now contracted to be the Food Safety Inspector for these top class restaurants. A proud moment indeed for the company.
Some long term clients have recently undergone their local enforcement inspection and both Fenwick Canterbury and Alnwick Garden Treehouse scored maximum 5 Stars. Great effort.
Food safety projects are currently being progressed at new clients, Stirks Butchers two shops in Sunderland and Constable Burton Hall in yorkshire, and new business owners at Gelders Gourmet continue to push the business forward with the assistance of Food Tech Solutions Ltd, achieving local council site approval in December.
Training
CIEH Level 3 food safety training has been completed for teams from Gelders Gourmet and Alnwick Garden Treehouse in January and a training course will take place in February, at Turnbulls Butchers in Alnwick.
Internet based CIEH Level 2 food safety courses have recently been purchased by Longridge Towers School for the teaching staff and both CIEH Level 3 and CIEH Level 2 food safety internet training is rolling out to all staff within Stirks Butchers, as part of their food safety project.
Auditing
Long term client Rothbury Bakery maintained their SALSA accreditation in January and Food Tech Solutions Ltd is delighted to announce that they will be working with the Certification Body, UK Food Cert, to complete on-going BRC inspections.

For the first time in its history; Food Tech Solutions Ltd became a proud sponsor. North Shields Junior Football Club now play with the Food Tech Solutions Ltd logo proudly shown on their chest! Great to be able to support such a lovely group of kids who love their sport.
Fenwick launched a brand new store in Bracknell in September and Food Tech Solutions Ltd provided food safety consultancy and guidance to its two restaurants to ensure a smooth launch.
Myco Foods contacted Food Tech Solutions Ltd back in April regarding their production facility and their plans for future growth and consultancy support was provided to allow production to increase with the smooth transition to using an external contract manufacturer, allowing the business to grow.
Food Tech Solutions Ltd has recently provided SALSA Mentoring to Firebrick Brewery and De Melo Gelato with a view to both companies working towards full SALSA accreditation.
BRC consultancy was provided to Finlays of Hull this year and I can confirm they achieved AA Grade status in their assessment in October with only one non conformance, which is an outstanding achievement when trying to achieve the BRC Global Food Standard.
Training
Changes have taken place within the CIEH recently and Food Tech Solutions Ltd completed its first CIEH Level 3 Food Safety course at National Trust Gibside site in October using the new portal examination system. This allows candidates to receive certificates efficiently and quickly which is a great improvement.
Auditing
Lisa Kennedy, Managing Director of Food Tech Solutions Ltd is an approved BRC Evaluator and continues to complete BRC Global Food inspections world wide, along with national SALSA audits.
Internal auditing support for clients continues including maintaining the Fenwick Group catering function nationally and Brysons maintained their SALSA accreditation with the support of regular internal audits from Food Tech Solutions Ltd.
Internal auditing support has also been provided throughout the year for Doddington Cheese and Dairy, along with their Milk Bar facility.

On-going success for clients of Food Tech Solutions Ltd
Consultancy
Mattisons Bakery successfully achieved SALSA accreditation at the first attempt in March with minimal actions and Hadrian Brewery maintained their SALSA accreditation in February.
Some new consultancy clients have come on board including The Good Food Company who are working with Food Tech Solutions Ltd to gain SALSA accreditation and Myco Foods who have achieved SALSA accreditation and contacted Food Tech Solutions Ltd to assist in system streaming and re-design in order to maintain their SALSA accreditation due in September.
Mark Toney Ice Cream achieved top marks 5 Star Rating during their environmental health inspection in February.
Training
CIEH Level 3 training was completed for Alnwick Garden and Turnbulls Butchers in January / February, followed by a CIEH Level 2 training course in Alnwick Castle in March as part of the annual induction process.
Some dedicated food safety training was completed for Doddington Dairy in April, completed at their funky milkshake bar.
Food Tech Solutions Ltd has maintained approved CIEH training provider status following the CIEH re-structure and can now continue to provide CIEH accredited training.
Auditing
Lisa Kennedy, Managing Director of Food Tech Solutions Ltd is now an NSK Knight approved BRC Evaluator and continues to complete BRC Global Food inspections world wide, along with national SALSA audits.

2017 - Start of a new business year!

2017 sees some more new clients coming on board with Food Tech Solutions Ltd and some current clients expanding. Bowers of Newcastle have now opened a new shop in Westerhope which further strengthens their food safety systems. Grants of Hexham achieved 5 Star Food Hygiene Ratings in June and Finlays of Hull maintained their AA BRC grade in October with the Factory Manager stating Food Tech Solutions Ltd support with implementing and maintaining their BRC system was 'worth every penny.'
Brysons of Keswick also maintained their SALSA accreditation in October and Food Tech Solutions Ltd have just launched a SALSA system into Doddington Cheese.
Both Lambton Castle and Latimers Fish Deli maintained their 5 Star Food Hygiene ratings and Fenwick Newcastle catering division also achieved top marks of a 5 Star rating following their unannounced inspection in November.
Two new clients are now part of the Food Tech Solutions Ltd family. Mattisons Bakery in Durham and Blackwells Butchers projects roll out at the start of 2017.
Training
CIEH Level 3 training is planned in January with Alnwick Castle and Gardens, followed by Turnbulls of Alnwick in February. Food Tech Solutions Ltd is aware of the changes within CIEH as an organising body and will ensure a smooth transition when CIEH accredited training courses change at the end of April 2017.
Auditing
Food Tech Solutions Ltd will be attending annual SALSA training in March and is continuing on-going BRC training in new systems with NSF Knight including the newly updated ASDA AA Audit.

Clients continue to succeed and some new clients have come on board with Food Tech Solutions Ltd.
Consultancy
Food Tech Solutions Ltd has signed contracts with two new clients.
Bowers of Newcastle / Bowers Pork Butchers are now represented by Food Tech Solutions Ltd and the project will continue over the next few months with improved technical systems implemented in both sites and an auditing service which will allow continuous improvement going forward by offering guidance and support.
Food Tech Solutions Ltd are now working with Constable Burton Hall in North Yorkshire, a beautiful location which hosts shooting parties. Both technical consultancy, an internal auditing programme and CIEH Level 2 food safety training has been provided to ensure the best possible service to their guests.
Annual HACCP reviews have been completed for Doddington Dairy and Doddington Cheese, and advice has been provided to clients on mandatory nutritional labelling which comes into force in December 2016.
Training
CIEH Level 3 food safety training will be completed with the catering team of Longridge Towers School in August. Food Tech Solutions Ltd has worked with this client for over 6 years.
Auditing
Food Tech Solutions Ltd continues to complete SALSA and BRC audits throughout the UK and Europe, along with maintaining clients systems by the dedicated internal audit programmes in place, as requested by clients.

The start of 2016 has brought great adventures and successes for Food Tech Solutions Ltd.
Consultancy
SALSA clients continue to maintain high standards with the support of Food Tech Solutions Ltd including Dropswell Farm and Rothbury Bakery. Hadrian Border Brewery became the first brewery to achieve the SALSA plus Brewery standard approval in February which is a great result!
Longridge Towers School and Blagdon Farm Shop maintained their top score of 5 Star rating in recent Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.
Training
CIEH Level 2 food safety training was completed for the Alnwick Castle in March as part of their new staff induction programme. Further CIEH Level 3 food safety training is planned for Longridge Towers School for the catering team in the summer time during school holidays.
Auditing
Lisa Kennedy, Managing Director of Food Tech Solutions Ltd has recently completed BRC version 7 inspections in the northern region of Spain. Great experience.
New auditing service contracts have been signed with The Northumbrian Baker to provide support, continuous improvement and guidance for 2016 and negotiations are underway between Food Tech Solutions Ltd and a new tourism and hospitality client - watch this space?

Consultancy
October brought the launch of the exquisite Fenwick Food Hall in Newcastle, the result of months of hard work and dedication by the team involved. Lisa Kennedy, Managing Director of Food Tech Solutions Ltd, provided food safety consultancy and advice during the design of the food hall and training of staff for the new hall, which has been designed by the team who were responsible for the Harrods Food Hall in London. If you love food, go and take a look.
The food safety consultancy and internal auditing programme with the Fenwick Group continues and all stores have now adopted the food safety system designed by Food Tech Solutions Ltd.
Other great success stories included Finlays of Hull achieving the top AA grade for their BRC Accreditation against the new challenging BRC Global Food standard. All SALSA clients maintained their SALSA status in 2015 and Turnbulls Butchers, Blagdon, Latimers and Nicholsons Butchers achieved 5 Star Food Hygiene Ratings scores.

Some of our clients have achieved some excellent results this quarter with Blagdon Farm Shop maintaining their 5 Star Q Guild status, Dropswell Farm Shop progressing with new and exciting ventures, Doddington Dairy achieving BBC Awards and Latimers achieving national awards.
The food safety consultancy and internal auditing programme with the Fenwick Group continues at pace. Following the launch of the food safety system in London in March, all 8 stores in the programme have now undergone the initial internal audits. Exciting times ahead for the Newcastle store. Food Tech Solutions Ltd has recently drafted HACCP studies for Doddington Dairies Cheese and Ice Cream lines and has just agreed terms with Nicholson & Son Butchers in Whitley Bay, to assist this 100 year old business in developing their food safety system on site.
